Service History

Here is a list of all the oil and filter services that the car has had, many of them had other bits too, but I see oil and filter as the most important factors in the life of an engine over the 127k miles it has done. Oil all used has been good quality and meeting Saab specification, and ever since it started being used by me it has had Mobil 1 of the 5W40 variety. The car uses no oil, even over a 2 week trip European trip with 5 days at the ring.

25 changes so far in its life. As you can see, the gaps have stretched from November 2008 to now. this is to due to its garage lifestyle, and it only going for a run every few weeks. I try never to do a short journey so it tends to come out, go for a decent drive, and then go away again.

I am loathe to have to change the Mobil 1 at 6-month intervals now, because with only a few hundred miles use, the oil is still so clear it is hard to read the dipstick. Friends have commented that the oil I take out of the car is cleaner than their new oil after a few miles…

The car has had brake fluid changed pretty much on an annual basis, normally before a trackday. Last change at 127019 miles, before that 12372 miles, before that 122235 miles…

  • New clutch, new master and slave cylinders, new clutch pipe, November 2002, Approx 85k miles
